Migrant Ecologies Project

An interdisciplinary exploration combining contemporary art biology and DNA timber tracking technology. This art science collaboration excavates historic and poetic journeys or “secret lives” of a teak bed found in Singapore back to the place in the region from which the teak originated. The work involves tracing “memories” of Southeast Asian forest products in time and space.

Jalan Jati (Teak Road): Winner, Promotional Award of the International Short Film Festival at Oberhausen, Germany 2012.
